Brenda Thomas
Brenda Thomas is a long-time resident of Seaside, a homeowner, and a veteran corporate executive in the affordable housing industry with 45 years of experience managing properties throughout Monterey County and across the United States. She is currently a member of the management team at Hamilton, Ellis, and Martin Plaza in Seaside.
Brenda was raised in Fort Ord and Seaside and is a graduate of Seaside High School. She received her B.A. degree in Business Administration/Real Estate Distinction. She was a music major at Chapman College in Orange County, and she is a professional contemporary Gospel singer who has toured throughout the Western United States and Eastern and Western Europe as a featured soloist. She is also an image consultant.
Brenda currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Salvation Army Monterey Corps, and the Monterey County Pops. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Housing and Management Agents (AHMA), she is a former Salinas Chamber of Commerce Member, and she is a past President of The Monterey Bay Links, Inc.

Before retiring, I had over 30 years of professional experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Strategic Planning and Corporate Finance & Accounting. Along the way I developed a business acumen and skill set that was successful for assessing complex business matters and providing effective business solutions for such companies as Max Factor & Co., Arrowhead Bottled Water, Nature Made Vitamins and Herbalife International. I was successful with my ability to execute and implement strategic goals and objectives through learned business tactics and collaboration. Some of the positions I held included Senior Financial Analyst, Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, Director of Global Operations Finance, and Vice President of Finance and Controller.

Mitchel Winick
Mitchel Winick serves as President and Dean of Monterey College of Law, a nonprofit law school based in Seaside, CA. The law school is the main campus for a family of law schools that include San Luis Obispo College of Law, Kern County College of Law, and Empire College of Law. In addition to serving as a director of the Seaside Housing Collaborative, Winick currently serves on the Housing Advisory Committee of Monterey County, and the board of directors of Natividad Medical Center in Salinas. An active member of the local community, Winick has previously served on the boards and committees of Access Monterey, ACTION Council, the City of Monterey Redevelopment Agency Oversight Board, Girl’s Inc. of the Central Coast, Monterey County Business Council, Leadership Monterey Peninsula, The Panetta Institute, and Monterey County Pathways to Safety. As an attorney and legal educator, prior to moving to the Monterey area in 2005 to begin his tenure with Monterey College of Law, Winick served as Assistant Dean for Texas Tech University School of Law, an Assistant Attorney General of Texas, Executive Director of the Texas Center for Legal Ethics and Professionalism, and as a business and management consultant.
